Ok it's a 03 2wd 1500... Keep hearing grinding noises from the front under right hand turns. A tiny bit of left turn makes the noise go away.
was thinking it might be a stuck rotor? any ideas?
Going to check it out in the morning.

OK, off topic but still funny and a true story. My dad had the same problem on a 57 chevy; every time he turned left he'd hear a screech in the right front. He pulled over, raised the hood and a barn cat jumped out and scared the $#|+ out of him. Eeker The cat was in the wheel well and the right front was rubbing on the cat when he turned sharply left. 2funny

Im gonna guess wheel bearing was the problem. This crap just happened to me today. The noise sounds like an airplane trying to take off/slow down is the best way to describe the sound. Took into dealer and sure enough the seal was missing and a bearing or two missing also. It was making a hellacious grinding noise.

85,000 on the truck and never even touched the front wheel bearings so I guess my luck ran out. Anyhow they are replacing/repacking so hopefully that will fix it.

Also of interest to note, at the exact moment this happened I was driving with the cruise control on and I did hear a ping (guessing the bearing being thrown out). Well the cruise control immediately shut off, still had full power of the truck/no dash lights came out, but the cruise control turned off and would not come back on when pressed.

The writer said the cruise control sensor is with the left wheel so it shut down the cruise control when this happened, they suppouse to fix that too or make sure it still works.

I seriously thought with the airplane type noise it was a hose, vac line or fan of some sort....nope it was the wheel bearings making the noise or lack there of.

Airplane noise = wheel bearings

Laterz!

I traded our old Jeep GC cause I could not stand the noise - amongst other things! Dealer said the bearing was the cause of the noise but it was still good. (But, for how long?) It was an '02 with 150K so it was due.

Tried to attach my prior posts. I don't know if the photos will come up until I post it. If not, look in Suspension, Other Suspension Talk, (creaking in front end, i think)

May not be today's problem, but watch out for cracking and tinny noises that sound like brake part issues without the reduced braking. Found a bearing/hub assembly bad on mine. Only heard it at lower speeds and eventually developed into grinding on turns with the additional clatter. $274 each side and 30min to install.

Back side of the bearing/hub assembly. The wire is for the ABS sensor. Can remove it and use yours, but my truck is an 03 and I just changed it out las week. Why gamble. I did not love that 3 bolts hold the whole wheel, roter and all to the truck, but found out that the Ford and GM(Greatest Mistake) have a similar design and I guess the older style really relied on the spindle nut alone. I'll do the right side when the one in the house with no job gives me permission to spend my paycheck to protect my safety.
