Ok so I have been reading and have seen the difference between the lakewood, cal tracs, and moes trac bars and got to thinking about my old 4x4 running the truck through the woods looking for more body damage and was wondering if anyone has ever mad a custom track bar that mounts straight on to the axle one mount on top of the axle one on the bottom and then mount the other end to the frame. Basically a long arm for the rear axle. Thus eliminating the axle wrap all together. Has anyone done this or is there a huge difference between off road and on road when it comes to this?? Just trying to get some plans together for when I return from Iraq and start my mods again...

Thanks
Adam

what you've described is pretty much a ladder bar set up if you mean to mount them on both side, or a torque arm similar to what it on the f-body camaros if only one arm is attached to the center of the axle. They work great for eliminating axle wrap, but you also have to take into consideration that the axle and the ladder bar will move on a different arc if the ladder bar is longer that the front half of the leaf spring. Lots of drag racers use a ladder bar/leaf spring combo with a floater, which lets the axle "float" on the leaf spring and not bind.

ZEX Nitrous system, Nitrous Outlet TB Plate, and MSD Retard Controller are going on next, followed by Cal-tracs and Drop Shackles...
