Have you tried carpet cleaner? That's where I would start. The best thing might be steam cleaning but that's a PITA.

Right? My first thought is to give it a good dry wipe until the paper towels come up somewhat clean. Then get it wet again with carpet cleaner.

I got right on it when I smelled something funny. Pulled the carpet up and wiped up what was wet. Let what got soaked up in the carpet pool down to the lowest point and hit it with the shop vac. It's dry now and doesn't smell. Just has that oily/grease film to the touch.

What a pisser. There went my paint money.

dawn diswashing liquid, diluted as much as possible, but still cut the grease may do the trick... try it in a small area, under the seat 1st.. make sure it doesn't discolor the carpet.

Thanks guys. Good ideas to try. We'll give it a shot when it stops raining here sometime next week.

Dry wiped some this morning and got some up. Greasy film is disipating. We need the rain here so I won't complain too loudly. But when it drys up outside, I'll be on it.
