anyone have a problem with the drivers-side grab bar(plastic piece on interior a-pillar) always loosening, then breaking? There is a plastic cap covering a slot where a bolt is located that tightens the plastic piece to the body....problem is, inside there, where the bolt tightens is all plastic... the platic up in there is breaking and it won't tighten anymore..... any ideas??

thanks!

Well guys,
Mine broke today and I am having a hard time getting the bolts out.

The problem I have is that the bolts are turning in the hole kindda sort of.

The part that sits in the pillar is turning.
I need to find out a way to get this part out or something before I install a new pillar cover with a tranny cauge.wich would be a new mod for me on my truck.

anyway if there is anybody that had this problem please let me know how to fix this.
I am almost to the point of puttin a weld on it or something, it looks like a insert to me but it's turning.

thanks

henk

I had the same problem trying to get mine off the first time. The bolt is out, but its still stuck in the plastic turning forever! I just yanked at it hard as hell and it came off. Broke it even more, but it was already pretty bad.
Might be able to get at it with some really skinny needle noses.

If just the holes are broke out. Rough up the plastic real good down around the holes. Then put a piece of tape over the holes. Then take a two part epoxy and mix it and pour it in there. Let it harden and drill out the holes.

First off, I'm glad I found this thread. I was starting to think that the shop that installed my alarm was to blame for this. Not too sure how I feel now that I know it was my fat ass' fault haha

This is pretty much the route I was going to take, but I was going to take it one step further and figure out a way to embed a thin sheet metal strap in there to strengthen it up a little. I hate having to pull on my steering wheel to get on the truck.

My drivers side pillar also broke the other day and sent my ass right to the pavement. I just sat there with the pillar in my hand for a second wondering what the heck just happened lol.
