UNOFFICIAL AND UNAUTHORIZED SOLICITAION FOR 2010 NATIONAL MEET

I am ready. Are you?

Oop's, when is it, or better yet where is it?

Now is the time to get plans started.

I will start off by saying lets have it at Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Wait, I can already hear somebody saying, No, lets have it in San Diego, CA, somebody else is saying, No, lets have it in White Plains, NY, etc. etc. etc.

Where do you want to have the meet this year?

It has already been held in Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Ohio.

How about someplace different this time. Maybe outwest, New England, New Orleans, etc. etc. etc.

Do you want it near a dragstrip? Yes.

Do you want it near family non hemi activites? Yes.

What else do you want?

Lets all get behind this and input your desires.

Personally, I would like to have in the N.E. Maybe eastern PA, NY, NJ. Someplace not too far from the south and not too far from our Canadian friends. 1500 miles is about my limit.

The west is getting more members and perhaps they would rather it be within 1500 miles from the left coast.

Anyway, lets hear from you.

R/T

Oooh New Orleans or Baton Rouge would be fun! Then again I'm kinda partial. What about somewhere along the beach, like Gulf Shores or something? I'd love to make it to a national meet, will definitely be following this thread. Cool

Frowner I would sure like to see something get going. The biggest hurdle is for "someone" to take the ball and offer to host the thing. It's real hard to try to set something up without someone on the ground at the place. Pete (CrazyHemi) did it in Pigeon Forge, David (Black Magic) did it in Sandusky and they both did a fantastic job. It needs to be a place with something for the family. A lot of folks have kids that need to be entertained and have something to do. A race track in the vicinity is a plus for a lot of those that attend.
The biggie is to figure out how many might like to attend a Rally in a particular place and go from there. What the Board has done in the past is take suggestions from members wanting to host a Rally and see how many would like to go. Then make a decision on what would accommodate the most members. Rallies are usually held in July, when most kids are out of school. Hotels also charge more during the summer months which make it a little harder to get a good rate, and for 5 days most of us need the best price we can get.
Remember that we tried Regional Rallies one year and it didn't do to well. Don't ask me why.....we thought it would do good. For some reason the western part of the country didn't have very good luck and most of the others were just so so at best. Keep in mind that most vacations spots also have huge traffic problems and high prices. That means that it could get to pricey for some to afford. With the economy being in the toilet is the reason there wasn't a Rally this year. I don't know how some of the GTG's like Branson Missouri came out or if they even happened. The "Hemis in the Smokies" GTG is scheduled and I hope they have a decent turn out.

Mary and I are going to Yellowstone sometime in late May. We've been going to go for years and always end up going to the Rally instead. This year we have to do this....before I get to old to enjoy it. oldfolks There have been a few that said they would meet us there but who knows. dunno

Good luck with the effort Nathan... You can bet the Board will be watching this thread to see how much interested there is in a 2010 Rally. goodluck

Maybe we should think about trying the Regional thing again. Gas prices are down but so are a lot of folks income. There sure isn't anything that would keep us from having more than one. One issue that there is is that HTC can't afford to make "T" shirts for several different Rallies. Each GTG would have to do something on their on or do without. Just my guess!!!
If anyone is interested in hosting a Rally write up a proposal and submit it to the Board of PM MrHemi with your idea. Also check with your local Dodge dealership (if there is one) to see it they would like to participate. Host a show, maybe provide drinks, hot dogs or something and use it in connection with a sales promotion. There are a tons of places and options if someone has the time and wants to make it happen.

Sounds a lot like Beech Bend at Bowling Green, KY. Bowling Green has been mentioned before as a good location for a rally. There's plenty to do in the area. Mammoth Cave , Lost River Cave , the Corvette Museum , the Corvette factory tours , etc.

Thanks for starting this off Nathan - I was going to wait until after the holidays, but really there's no time like the present. Planning one of these things can literally take months.

The GTG in the Great Smokeys next year might be a very good place to start. It would be nice to have one up in New England area as well, but as Doug stated, we really can't afford to have more than one Rally at a time.

The BOD and myself are open for ideas/suggestions!

BTW - good posts above Doug... thanks for that thumb2

I understand that Pigeon Forge has been host to the National Rally before. I personally would like to nominate it for round number 2. It seems like onemarine02 has already taken the ball for the Hemi in the Smokies, if he would be willing why not make it the National.

Other ideas could be St.Louis, Kansas City, or Memphis if someone would do it. Kinda centralized locations for both coasts.
