Changing lineup
Chrysler is launching its biggest vehicle makeover ever. On tap:
Dodge
New: Seven-passenger crossover arrives next year.
Viper: Current run ends this year; a new version arrives in 2012.
Dakota: Ends production in 2012.
Caliber: Refreshed interior this year. A new compact sedan will replace it in 2012.
Avenger: Interior refreshed in 2010; a new model replaces it in 2012.
Nitro: Gets a more urban street look and refreshed in 2011, future uncertain after that.
Challenger: Overhaul in 2011.
Charger: New model arrives next year.
Caravan: Interior redesign in 2010.
Ram
1500: Successful redesign -- on the right track.
2500, 3500: Launched this fall; future models could feature an all-new 6.4-liter V-8 Hemi.
Chassis cab trucks: New versions arrive next year.
Semi trucks: Considering for the future.
Small and large commercial vans: Looking for replacement; also considering a small urban work truck to compete against Ford Transit Connect.
Jeep
Patriot: Overhaul next year.
Compass: Overhaul next year; likely to disappear in 2012.
New: Replacement for Patriot and Compass arrives in 2013.
Wrangler: Exterior and interior overhaul next year; new, more efficient powertrain added by the end of year; special-edition models arrive in 2011 for Jeep's 70th anniversary.
Liberty: Refreshed next year
Commander: Outlook unclear after 2011.
Grand Cherokee: Redesigned model arrives in the second quarter of 2010.
New: The smallest Jeep yet arrives in 2011.
Chrysler
PT Cruiser: Ends production in 2010.
Sebring: Overhaul in 2010; replaced in 2013.
New: Midsize crossover arrives in 2013.
300/300C: New models arrive in 2010.
Town and Country: Overhaul in 2010; new model arrives in 2014.
New: Compact sedan arrives in 2012.
New: Subcompact car arrives in 2013. (Chrysler wants to move date forward.)

Dont understand an overhaul of the Challenger in 11. It is just about the perfect car right the way it is.
Also dont understand getting rid of the Dakota.

I can see why the future of the commander is uncertain. I drove one and was totally unimpressed, except for the hemi. It rode terrible and was cramped.

A new "unibody" chassis mid-size truck is replacing the dakota.

Also puting the Liberty diesel engine in the Wrangler is a possibility.

I thought the Nitro was already gone.

And I didn't know you could still get a diesel in the Liberty.

I am looking for a mid-size 4x4 SUV to replace the PT cruiser next year. We have had the cruiser for 5 years and have loved it, but want to move to something a little bigger when the baby comes (no minivans Smiler)

You can't get a diesel Liberty any more, it went out with the old body style.

You can get a diesel GC, though.
