Let me stand up on this soapbox here for a few minutes...

I have finally found the best way to quit smoking. If you really want to quit - without the anxiety, irritableness, cravings, etc., then please continue reading. I know that at least 50% of our 6,000+ members here smoke... if I can help at least one person quit, then I will feel like I’ve accomplished something.

Let’s face it... you know smoking is bad for you. You know that it’s costing you $75-$100 per month or more. But you keep smoking anyway. You know why? You already know the reason – it’s the nicotine. Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs around... and it has you in its firm grip.

For the past 10 years, I’ve tried to quit. I was sick of the smell on my clothes and hands, the shortness of breath, a “heavy feeling” in my chest, bad breath, etc. I tried the nicotine patch, nicotine gum, hypnotism, and cold turkey – nothing worked. And of course back on 1 September 2009 when the Federal and State Government thought a $10 per carton tax increase was a great idea; I finally said enough was enough.

My nephew Sergio was the one who showed me what electronic cigarettes were all about. Just like me, he was about a pack, pack and a half per day smoker. I visited him recently and he showed me the “e-cig”. I was instantly amazed. Looks just like a real cigarette - you inhale and exhale what looks to be like smoke, but is just water vapor. But most importantly – you get the nicotine fix – without all the rest of the harsh chemicals. Sergio said he smoked his last cigarette over three months ago and never looked back. I made the decision right then and there that I was going to order my e-cig as soon as I got home.

The electronic cigarette is a fairly new product... it became available around 2003. It’s an advance in science that is destined to change the way people smoke forever. It’s a smoking alternative that looks, tastes, feels, and acts like a cigarette but doesn't actually produce any "real" smoke! A cigarette that doesn't produce tar... a cigarette that doesn't burn tobacco. Take a puff or two and stick it in your pocket – no flame to extinguish. Imagine “smoking” indoors now instead of having to go outdoors in the rain or cold. Heck – I can now smoke right at my desk at work! No smell, no ash – and the water vapor “smoke” disappears within seconds.

The way it works is simple... each “e-cig” has a rechargeable battery and a disposable cartridge that is filled with liquid nicotine, flavorings, and an atomizer. Upon inhalation, a micro-processor is switched on which sends a signal to the atomizer. The e-cig atomizer heats up instantly and vaporizes the liquid nicotine into a fine water-based mist that replicates the look and feel of smoke. This smokeless vapor tastes and smells great. It gives you the full effect of smoking real tobacco without harsh tobacco smoke and without second hand irritation. There’s even a LED light that glows to reproduce the effect of a glowing ash. Each disposable cartridge will produce 300+ puffs... equivalent of about 1.25 packs of cigarettes. And there are many of different flavors to choose from.

The nicotine solution consists of 1% - 3% nicotine diluted in water and either propylene glycol or glycerol (both of which are common food additives).

How’s this for a fact: the e-cig has only 22 ingredients in the disposable cartridge. The average cigarette you’re smoking right now has 599 ingredients (and an additional 2,000+ chemicals become present when burned – at least 60 of them are known cancer causing carcinogens).

Okay – I’m off my soapbox now... just wanted you all to know what worked for me, might work for you as well. All I can say is that I feel great. Blood pressure is down, shortness of breath has decreased, I sleep better at night, can smell and taste better... the list goes on. And the cost you ask? I was spending between $70 and $80 per month on cigarettes... with the e-cig; I buy one pack of cartridges each month (10 per pack) for $18.95. That’s about 75% savings each month.

I’ve done a lot of research on which e-cig was best (there are a lot of them to choose from)... I have found that the electronic cigarettes at SmokeTip.com has the best value, easiest e-cigs to use, always have free shipping, and most importantly – they have a lifetime guaranty.

Thanks for reading beer

I suppose if you get some food grade propylene glycol you could make your own cartridges for e-cigs.

congrats Mark. i know how hard it is to quit smoking. i hope that this works for you and anyone else who try it. of course it took a severe a-fib attack that took 2 different procedures (one required that they stop my heart and restart it) to get my heart back to beating correctly and having to take Coumadin and a calcium blocker ( which makes some days really hard to do anything) for the rest of my life to finally quit. it,s been one month since i quit and it is still a battle. lol last week i dreamed that i was enjoying a smoke and a good stiff drink with friends at Myrtle beach. so if you don't succeed try try again goodluck1 to those who tries this.

FYI - I also ordered the carry case and an extra USB charger (for work). I've tried the apple and coffee flavors so far, and I have to say both really taste great! The 16 mg regular cartridges seem to produce more vapor than the flavored cartridges.

Another thing I like about this system and website is that you can choose lower nicotine levels over time (16mg, 12 mg, 6mg, and 0mg). That's a good thing right there thumb2

Guess I'm going to give it a try too. At what point can you get off of these or is this just a lifetime substitute?
