I got my e-cig in the mail today and everything was just as advertised and expected. Opened up the package and got one battery right on the charger. The other one "tested" fully charged so screwed on a cartomizer (which contains the atomizer [heating coil] and the liquid nicotine) and took my first drag.

I took about a 3-second light drag and immediately felt the warmth of the vapor in my mouth and the taste which immediately reminded me of a sweet light cigar. Then I inhaled it and felt it go through my throat and into my lungs. Exhaled with almost no vapor. With a couple of minutes between the next few puffs, I was quickly able to tell when I'd taken enough of a drag and enjoyed the improving vapor upon exhale.

My first thoughts are that it's going to take some getting used to because it is different. It is heavier than a regular cigarette to hold, about the weight of a AA battery. With a slow draw it heats up the liquid in the cartridge immediately and the vapor feels warmer than a normal cigarette, kinda like that last puff after 2 or 3 big puffs. Again, it didn't take me long to adjust my puffs accordingly. I like the taste! I'd compare it more to the taste of Swisher Sweet little cigar and the exhaled vapor smells the same, but disipates to no smell after a few seconds.

It's been 2 hours now since I started and have picked it up and taken a few puffs about a half dozen times. Not suprisingly, while typing this in my computer I am looking for a cigarette in my ashtray, I think because after a few puffs my mind is reminding me that I lit a cigarette, now continue smoking it. That I find is my only problem right now - expecting to finish a full cigarette. Other than that, I can actually feel the satisfaction of smoking a cigarette and getting the nicotine fix I need. I put my regular cigs in a drawer more than 2 hours ago and haven't wanted one since.

Right now it is exactly as what so many have described - different but satisfying. Yes, this is only day one, but so far - honestly - so good. And even though these cartomizers are suppose to be throwaways, they ARE refillable and I've already ordered some flavored liquids "E-Juice" to refill them with.

For those who placed your order and get them, please post your thoughts!

Great write-up Steve! I have almost forgotten the "old routine" of finding an ash tray, where are my smokes, my lighter, better pop an Altoid before Peg comes in the room, etc.

I'm getting about three days use of the disposable cartridge... so that means my nicotine habit will be costing me about $18.95 per month. I can live with that (in so many ways). Big Grin

Well it's only been almost 10 hours but the old cigarettes are still sitting untouched in the drawer. I know it'll be a few days before I become more used to my new e-cig but so far it's working out just fine. I've been grabbing it every half to hour or so for a few puffs and that's it.

Have not had an urge for the old cigs yet.

I really, really hope you guys enjoy it as much as I am right now. It's like smoking a better tasting cigarette but even better. No lighter, no ashtray, no smell, it sits here on my computer desk, just pick it up and puff. I swear to you, I'm doing just fine.

I can't wait to hear y'alls first experience!!!

Oh, if you haven't visited any of the e-cigarette forums, here's some new terminologies/nicknames to learn:

e-cig - electronic cigarette
analog - a regular tobacco cigarette
batt - battery
atty - atomizer
cart (or carty) - cartridge (of nicotine)
cartomizer - a cartridge with atomizer built-in
e-liquid or e-juice - 3ml and up sizes of liquid nicotine for refilling carts

and the list goes on and on...

If you become a fulltime user of e-cigs you are called a "Vaper". You "Vape" instead of smoke.

I slept no different than I always do last night, maybe a little better. I got up this morning, got my coffee, sat here at the computer and started my routine and it was a couple of minutes before I realized I hadn't even touched my e-cig. A few puffs and I'm already satisfied.

Still no analogs and I feel fine!

We got our starter kit today. So far it really does seem to satisfy the urge to smoke without lighting an analog smoke. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd plug something like this e-cig into my computer. online
