I'm looking for an AR-15. Any suggestions? Just wanting one to shoot, maybe try hunting with it. Nothing fancy. I like the DPMS Panther for the price. Also have friend that would sale his for $800, Olympic Arms. So far the gun stores I been to they go for bout $1000.
I've done some research and reading. But still would like any advice you guys have since I not extremely gun smart. Any comments welcome...

I hear Bushmaster has a pretty good lineup. BudsgunShop.com has the best prices I've found online, I'm planning to pick up an AR myself one of these days.

I have several of these weapons made by Colt,Bushmaster, Rock River Arms and SigArms. Each weapon will have its own "feel" and characteristic's and several offer a 4 or 6 postion collapseable stock or a fixed stock.
What features are you looking for as many of these models can get very expensive. The only experience I have with DPMS is on the more expensive accurized models. I personally carry a Bushmaster while on duty. Before you use it for any type of hunting you had better check your state laws as not all states allow the 5.56mm to be used as a hunting round. If I can help any further shoot me a PM and I'll do what I can to point you in the right direction.

I don't own one but I've been researching them for about a year now. Since I live in Indiana I'm allowed to hunt deer with a 458 Socom round so this will most likely be the AR I buy. You might look into buying just the parts and assembling it yourself (save some coin this route) which it what I will be doing. When the time comes to purchase I'll be looking for a multi-cal lower, lower parts kit and an RRA 458 upper. I'm just glad I didn't try to build one earlier this year as parts were non-existent and RRA has been back logged since the election.

This weekend is when the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show took place (there's usually 5 a year) so me and a couple buddies went up there yesterday. I ended bringing home a CMMG lower, lower parts kit and a UTG 4 position stock. Total cost for these items was $215. If I would've had more cash on me I would've picked up a complete upper as well. Prices on uppers were very reasonable. A lot of the dealers selling complete AR's had them listed between $800-$1300, depending on set up. I decided to go a different route and build a plinker on a 5.56 platform. Even after I buy the upper I'll end up saving $100-$200 on this rifle rather than buying one that's ready to go. The first pic just shows a mock job of the lower, grip and stock with the rest of the parts. I checked out Youtube and AR15.com for instructions on how to assemble. I took my time with it and in less than 2 hours it was done (2nd pic).
