I've been watching this since I got home today... my heart goes out to the friends and family of the fallen Soldiers - and prayers out to the 30+ wounded Soldiers.
The "suspected shooter" (who was killed by MPs) was a Soldier as well... Major Malik Nadal Hasan. I didn't know about this until I saw this thread when I came in. At least our local (Dallas) Fox channel is and has been live since about 2PM giving coverage. Waiting on the base General to give a briefing. The Major that did the shooting was from West Virginia. The 2 individuals that they were talking to have been released.

Military bases are basically gun free zones because they keep everything locked up.
