Hello everyone,
At last after 2.5 months the Ram is finally approved for street use...
I do have one question. Euro cars never sound the horn when you lock the doors, but the dodge does. Normal reaction from everyone : 'as if the car ain't big enough he has to sound the horn as well, ... show off' etc.
I know it can be disabled, but it just does not work ! First of the manuel with the car states do it from inside the car : no success. When you download the manual from the Dodge site it states do it from outside the car : no success. So for 2006 there are two different manuals ...

What I do :

Get in the car (door locks or doors unlocked doesn't change anything)
Buckle up
turn ignition to start (but don't start)
then press and keep pressing the lock button on the key
count to four seconds
then press and keep pressing the unlock button along with the lock button
wait, wait, wait, 10 minutes later no chimp
give up out of frustration.

Am I still doing something wrong? Are there drivers with a 2006 who managed to turn the horn chirp feature off?
It sounds silly but I really need to get it turned off

Thanks in advance,
Nick

I know that it is all in the time. Make sure that everything is off and fasten the seat belt so the sound that you get is when the programming is done.

ONe of the easiest ways is to find some with a OBD II from a dealer!

Thanks guys,

Ive been reading on various webpages and it seems that people with some production series just can't do it with the key fob. True or not, it sounds doubtfull but yeah, the OBD would be the easiest solution.

Cheers

Try this.

When your keyfob is in the ignition it doesn't work. There must be some type of safety mechanism. Your keyfob will be disabled when in the ignition.

I believe you need two keyfobs to follow the directions in the owners manual. Put one in the ignition and use the second one to do what you have to do. Let me know if this works.

I haven't tried it yet myself but I know for sure when the first keyfob is in the ignition it doesn't do anything.

I think that could be the issue indeed, I only have the spare key fob left, the importer 'lost' the original one ...
Now I cant even program spare fobs myself

Had to use the dealer as well, free of charge so no big deal. Also had them change to the unlock all the doors with one push of the button over the driver door only and then all doors unlock. The little lady was getting upset standing in the rain with a locked door while i was already in. Strange girl!
