Am just wondering what the major differences between a 1500 & 2500 Hemi/545rfe equipped truck are?
I know the available stock gearing is different. But other then that is there a difference?

I probably don't know all the differances. But some are the 2500 has a heavier duty frame, the auto transmission is differant and the 2500 has heavier duty springs which are leaf springs. the 1500 has coil springs in the rear.

Hey BamaTaco. Ive been doing some research on it, just for fun the 2500 with the Hemi comes with the same tranny thats in the 1500 (545rfe). So the only thing I could find was heavier springs. Seems like a big price difference for springs. IMO. I wonder what could be different about the frame? Do you mean the front springs are leafs on the 2500s? Cause my 1500s rears are leafs. Wish I could find a 2500 to crawl around under.

The frame on a 2500 is taller. From top to bottom. I used to have a 2500 and it isn't the same. Just go to a Dodge dealer and take a look under one of the 2500's. As far as I know the front springs on the newer 2500s are coils now. But the rear leafs on a new 2500 are still leafs and on a new 1500 the rear springs are coils. But thats on the 09 1500's only

The difference is:
1. Taller/Stouter frame.
2. Heavy duty rear leafs

If you want a heavy duty 1/2ton I would recommend the 1500 ram mega cab. I have one. It is identical except for the rear leafs, but you can do a "add-a-leaf".

One more thing, the 1/2 quads have the MDS w/ the hemi which means BETTER FUEL MILEAGE! Smiler
