yea, I mean with the dualies, and a reasonable non-daily driver dualie load a hemi would be pounding the RPMs with like 5 MPG. :-p

If you look at the Dodge site there won't be any more 3500 Hemi's. All 09 3500's are diesel powered.

I can't for the life of me figure out why in the HELL someone would get a 3500, especially a dually, with a hemi. That's much more weight than those engines should be hauling around-to get reasonable performance it has to be geared pretty steeply. Not to mention, the kind of work those trucks often do will pound pretty much any normal gasoline engine into the ground in just a few years, if you could afford to keep fuel in it. I mean, you could theoretically gear a vacuum cleaner motor down enough to move a freight train, but that doesn't mean you should do it.

I'm not trying to insult anyone here with a 3500 hemi, I'm just saying I don't understand the logic. For the record, I have nothing against hemis-I own an '09, and my wife and I had an '05. I also have had a number of diesel dodges, including the '06 srw 3500 4wd auto we have that gets roughly 22 mpg unloaded on the highway. So, I'm familiar with both types of truck.

Just an FYI:
In 2010 Dodge will offer the 5.7 Hemi in their 3500 trucks. It will come with a new 6-speed "Aizon" (Sp?) transmission which will increase fuel economy by 5%. The new Hemi will have an output of 383 HP & 400 lbs. ft. of torque.

Oh yeah, the new 2010 HD's will have option of crew cab or mega cab. No more quad cab, thank god! I'm sorry, but I'm 6'1 & wife is 6'0. Their is no room in the back seat for amazon's! hahahaha

If you go on "you tube", search for 2010 dodge ram heavy duty 3500. I have to admit, it is one kick ass looking truck!
