I currently have the 9.25 rear with 3.92's. I'm running 35'' tires and may go to 37's in the future. Just wondering if there's a 4.88 gear option for the 9.25? Are they dependable? I'm also entertaining the idea of an axle swap in the future as well. The SRT-10 axle would be cool, but I don't want to limit myself to a 4.56 gear ratio. What other axles are good for a swap?

Unless you go with a custom axle, eg. Rock Jock, 4:88's are not an option. You might be able to swap in a 2500 axle, but then you have 2 different bolt patterns. goodluck1

Will a wheel bearing from a 2500 bolt in place of my wheel bearing? Big Grin
I did some searching and found 4.88's for the 9.25. Just not sure if I want to put money into this axle.

The 9.25 is a corporate axle. Very light duty. The 2500 is a Dana unit. Nothing is interchangeable except maybe the oil.

Oh yeah, I know. I'm just trying to decide the 9.25 is worth putting money into. But having to deal with 35's w/3.92 v.s. fuel mileage it may be worth for the time being. Maybe at least if I went with a ratio of 4.56(which is more popular) it would be easier to sell when I swap rear ends.

Believe it or not, your mileage is going to go up with the 4:56's.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It sucks right now. With 4.56 it would put me back where I'm supposed to be. It just would be cool to have 4.88's cause I do tow and haul a little bit and the jump off the line would be sweet! burnout

If you go to the 37's i would get the 4.88s.
If you plan to keep the 35s for a while then go with the 4.56 unless you really want some low end grunt then go ahead and do the 4.88s now.

Yeah, I'm going to go 4.88 for sure. I plan running 37's eventually. Might as well do it once, you know. I'm just going to have to wait a bit though, got a few other things to take care of first.
