i just noticed that the plug in my rear diff is leaking. could this mean i need a new plug or is something else causeing it to leak there. if so is it easy to fix or should i bring it in. i have the 7 yr powertrian on it.

it is just a rubber plug... i just applied black RTV to mine during my last fluid change presto... no more leak thumb2

check that your vent isn't plugged, if it is the heat generated in the diff will pressurize it causing a slight leak. if the vent isn't plugged, replace the fill plug

If you can afford to, change the sorry thing out. I've put PML covers on my last two trucks and eleminated a lot of that with a higher capacity cover. Easy to drain, easy to fill..more oil=cooler temperature.
