My truck is an '04 and I blew my first one out at 32,000 miles and now my second one out at 72,000 miles. Having my third one put in next week. Probably going to be a nice $1800+ bill.

I was told on the phone they no longer make "new" diffs for these trucks anymore. My response, "Probably because they suck."

My buddy destroyed his at 38,000 miles and he babies his truck. Truck probably only seen full throttle ten times.

Not exactly the same, but I put 4 diffs in my old F150 in less than 120k. I think the housing was deffective and causing the carrier and gears to burn up. I had tried using yukon gears and an auburn locker to fix it on the third try. Still burned up. Ford put in one, race car builder i know installed one, Four Wheeling of Raleigh installed one and I put the last one in so I don't think it was an installer problem. Problem was only solved when I swapped in a whole new axle. (junkyard $1200 complete) and it was from an f250. No problems with my Ram w/ 118k - knock on wood.

Good luck

I'm at 110,000 miles and my forth one is making some noise now so it looks like another rear end in my future. We installed a Mag Hytec cover last time as the rear was cooking the gear oil but it may have been a waste of money for me. An SRT rear is on my list but they aren't easy to find.

That's weird. What's different about an 04 than a newer year? I have had 4 dodge trucks and never had a rearend go out....Two were over 100k miles. and the other two were over 40k. dunno
