I want to put a limited slip on our 05 Hemi. The dealer told us it came with one, but they lied to me, it does not. It is a Laramie with 20" tires and I hate the open rear end.

Which rear end is the best in your opinion and why?

I'll just throw out my opinion of the stock LSD, in case you might go that route.

Both my trucks ('05&'07 4x4's) had/have the stock LSD and if all you drive on is pavement it works great. I have never had a problem having both tires hook up no matter what circumstance (while on pavement).

However, if you get off of paved roads I have noticed it will start to spin just the wheel with less traction. (especially crossing a ditch or something similar). I don't off-road very often, but I've considered replacing my stock LSD just becasue if I have a 4wd truck, I want it to spin all four wheels.

iagree

Accept for the off-road part, I never do that, lol. But even in rain, I'll take a left hander, and she goes sideways. Take a right hander, she spins the crap outta the passenger side wheel, no slide. This is sometimes true on dry ground as well, but in a straight line, always been good to me.

I would have to recommend Auburn or Detroit TruTrac. I really don't know what the difference is between the two, because if I did, then my wallet would be that much lighter. Smiler

From what research I have done, the Detroit TruTrac is appealing. Auburn has a good reputation, as does TruTrac. I just like the all metal gears. I would not go with the factory LSD at all. I just hate the dealer lied to us.

I ran the DTT for a few years and liked it. It's a nice compromise between a traditional clutch style LSD and a locker. Great road manners and above average offroad ability. From time to time it would fail to engage in some spots and a little two foot driving with the brake and gas would fool it into spinning the other tire.
Also the DTT doesnt require friction modifier, just regular old gear oil and go. Ran it for about 3 years with zero issues.

Wheily, I had it checked when we installed the Maghytec differential cover on it and it is not an LSD. Dealer just flat out lied about it. We did, however, get an excellent price on the Hemi, so I won't bitch, just wished the truth had been told.

I have the LSD in mine, but I have been really thinking about swaping it out. It works great straight, but turns it really doesn't work to my liking. I would like to put a better posi in. Bought my wife a Trans Am, and am floored how well it sticks. It won't loose it even from a stopped 90*. Then to, the tires we have on it don't compare to the Dodge stock.
