All,

Had a low roaring sound coming form underneath the ram, 05 1500 hemi Short Bed 2wd 40,000 miles, since winter. SO I figured it was the right front wheel bearings. Since it made a noise with the wheel jacked up. So today I replace it. The problem is the noise is still there.

The noise happens when you turn the truck to the left. It only takes a slight movement left to get the noise to start, also does not get any worse the further you turn to the left. To the right, no noise at all. Also makes the noise if you are coasting to a stop at around the 30-40 mph range and sometimes coasting on a bumpy road.

So I crawl back under it and find out that it looks like the front seal in the diff has been leaking. Checked the fluid, a little low. Added fluid, cleaned off the front of the diff and test drove. Still have the noise. No new fluid on front of diff. One thing I did notice is the diff was hot, could barley hold your hand on it. This was after a 5 mile drive.

So my next move is what? Probably will change the fluid and get a better look inside. And also check the rear brakes. But other than that I guess take it to the dealer and see if it is covered under warranty.

So today I changed the diff fluid. Every things looks good. Check for play in the bearings and that is OK too. Had the wife drive and I rode in the bed and the noise is not coming from the rear end. Hopped into the passenger seat and I could feel the vibration in the floor board. So I think that it is not the diff any more. It is something in the right front. I check all the bolts to on the suspension and everything seems ok. Rotated the tires to see if I had a bad tire, still made the noise. Can an miss alignment cause this??
