We have not said anything to our friends and family here, but now is the time.
Our oldest daughter, Amanda was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32. The first of several surgerys are scheduled for tomorrow. If all goes well she will be home on Saturday after a overnight stay. We remain hopefull for her full and complete recovery. And are thankful for early detection which has increased her odds of beating this. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. It is most difficult for us, as you always want the best for your children. And unexpectedly, something like this happens. We will keep everyone posted as things progess. . My very good friend just celebrated her 5 year anniversary as a breast cancer survivor also having been diagnosed at an early age. Today she was totally released from her oncologist!! Be sure she hooks up with Reach for Recovery and a good cancer support group. |

A update for everyone. Amanda did well in surgery today. Actually 2 sessions, the second being with the plastic surgeon on reconstruction.
She is not a nice patient. Having worked in too many hospitals in her life. I think she gets that from her mother and grandfather. If all goes well there is still a long road ahead. Further treatment, whether chemo or radiation has to be determined. And a second mastecomy will be done. She is a tough gal and we love her very much. Just wanted to keep you updated. Kay and I are heading over to see her after dinner.
