Some have gotten it to run, and some haven't. You will need to let it "learn" to idle with the new cam, meaning you will need to keep reving it while in park to keep it from dying, or drive it around, two stepping it the whole time to keep it from dying. I've heard that after about 15 min - 30 min, it should learn the cam and idle on its own.

But you would get a whole lot more gains from a custom tune! Smiler

If you are gonna spend the money and time doing a 268 swap, do it right and get the custom tune.

I agree sell me your superchip Big Grin. Seriously if you are going to spend the money on a cam and the time installing it you should get all of the benefit out of it. A custom tune will do that for you

the only reason i dont like the diablo is because of the lack of transmission tune for the 04's. if it werent for that id probably already have one. im not very familiar with SCT tune. can someone tell me a little about it? is it like a handheld tuner or what?

The SCT is a custom tuner like the Diablo, I don't think they have a lot of trans options on it either though. Price wise the SCT is quite a bit more than a Diablo right out of the box though unless they've went down. Tuning wise I think with the right person doing the tuning you can get about the same from an SCT as a Diablo so either one would work for the 268 cam.

I'd definitely recommend doing a tuner w/ the 268 cam though, even after the vehicles have learned the cam they seem to me like they still stall out fairly often without the tuning. Like damn near every time you put it in reverse and try to back up....

go with sct if you get a 268. youll hate a 268 without a tune, stalling at lights and in parking lots, surging...just a pita

Sct is a handheld tuner but unlike the Diablo, it doesn't come with canned tunes. You can only use it to get custom tunes. I have Sean, Hemifever, as my custom tuner. He sends me tunes via emails after I send him datalogs from my truck. I use my superchips to record rpms, timing, and knock sensors during a wide open throttle run. I also send him a vid of the rpms and A/F ratio of the same run. From this info, he can adjust whatever needs to be adjusted in a tune and send it to me in an email. Then I would take that tune and download it to my handheld and then load in the truck.

also, SCT doesn't have trans tuning yet. but they have the capability to dial down the torque management. A lot of guys, including myself, have stacked Superchips with SCT. This way you get the firm shifts and raised shift points from the Superchips and the custom tune from the SCT.

You've really gotten some great advice in this thread, I went with SCT and will say the tune from Hemifever is probably the best thing I've done for the truck so far.
