i decided relieve my HEMI of it's cooling duties by installing an electric fan, i researched my options and decided on a Mark VIII fan to do the job. i purchased it and a 80 amp relay off of eBay for about $85. purchased an adjustable thermostat, some wire, connectors and other hardware at my local Napa for $55. stopped at party store after and purchased a 6pack for just over $5, then headed home with the goods and began the install.

the VIII fan is almost a perfect fit for the HEMI radiator.....i mean it could damn near pass as factory as far as the fit goes. top to bottom the fit is as good as it gets, shroud ends right at the fins. side to side there is about 1 1/4" of fins showing outside the shroud. the radiator has holes in the perfect location for mounting tabs, i made 4 aluminum brackets in no time at all and litterally had the new fan mounted in the time it took to remove the stock fan and shroud! i really can't believe how stock the fan looks in there, i am extremly happy with the fit and looks!

after the fan was installed it was time to wire it, mounted the solenoid, fuse holder, override switch and thermostat then ran the wires. ran 10ga for the fan supply and 16ga to the solenoid componets and override switch. i still have to tidy the wires up in a jacket and tie it off to make it look nice but it's all operational.

last thing i have to do is get my tanks mounted, ordered some cheapie plastic ones to hold me over until i get arround to making some custom ones.....sadly i can't get to my custom tanks until i get my CAI and i can't decide if i want to make one or just buy one, after all that is done i can finally get to my lift.....wich is what spured all this on anyway doh

you'll feel it during stop/go hot days sitting in traffic... no more fan pulling down on off idle acceleration. Looks good. thumb2

nothing major in the MPG department but then again i didn't heep records of before and after. it has to help and for the amount it cost to do even if it produces 1/4 mpg better it will pay for itself.....eventually

as for HP it had to help also, with the stock clutch fan on, you could feel it disengage while driving right after startup, now weather it was engaged while driving robbing power i couldn't tell you but i know the electric fan robs zero power.
