Hey guys, I'm wanting your suggestions on power! I have an '03 2500 with an intake and a 3.5 cat back. where do I go from here in order of $$$ and power. I mean down to the little stuff such as the torque converter lock up wire mod. I'm new to the gassers and frankly the diesels were easy.I have plenty of mechanical experience, I just dont want to waste money on stuff like spacers. thanks alot

you could bennifit from a custom cam grind... spec'd especially for low end grunt. There are a couple places that can do this, but be sure to tell them you truck is an 03 (less tunning options), so they keep the LSA in check for a good idle.

Call these guys. Tell him your needs.

Next would be taller gears (4.56's) would compliment your needs very well.

Thanks guys, did the trans wire,
How much HP do ya suppose the fan lets loose? What do ya think of any superchargers? Do I need to let superchips know about the new camshaft assuming I do that? After how many goodies do I "need" the converter? Opinions on shorty headers? Is the '03 as much of a tuning problem as it sounds?Any one spend alot of time on their '03's here?

I've heard the fan gets you about 10hp.

And if you tow, I'm not so sure a torque converter is a great idea. I think they are prone to produce more heat, which is not good for the trans.

But I think a gear change might be the best option for more power, and better towing capability.

I understand the TC. And yes I do tow, I forgot to mention that, I have a little 23 foot 5th wheel camper (5000 lbs or so).
I think I'll do the fan for sure. whats the general opinion on plugs and wires on the '03's? I see ya use NGK's ? the truck actually runs ok considering what I put it through, I just want a little more-ya know 5's and 10's are nice little bumps.

What gear ratio do you have?

Although it's pretty expensive (especially on a 4x4), you would probably benefit most from a gear change.

And unless you go into the engine internals, 5 - 10 hp bumps are about all a person could expect.

Not only that but also can be very handy at the track. When in the pits you can have the fan hooked up to a switch and turn it on to help cool it faster. The cooler you are the better you run! Wink

The only thing I do with it is drive to work and tow my little camper up and down the hills, I really dont want to invest in 2 gear sets, BUT..........
it may be less expensive than motor work, and I can do the ring and pinions my self.
