No matter what cam you pick install 6.1 springs and push rods at the same time to be safe. You will get many answers regarding cam choice but it comes down to just that, personal choice. I love the 268 in my quad cab, it sounds mean as hell at idle and pulls hard to redline. You're off to a great start with the LT's, and Diablo has lots of experience custom tuning these trucks and would be a good way to go.

There are a lot of things to think about when doing a cam. What do you plan to do about tuning? SCT, Diablo, or Superchips?

Depending on what tuning you want to do changes how much of a cam you can run.

The other side of it is how you drive your truck. Do you hotrod around all the time to where you need a monster cam?

There are several cams that will make good low end power and still pull all the way to redline. There are other cams that will cost you low end power but make more mid and up top.

More details on your truck are really needed to give any real advise. year, any mods you currently have or plan to do soon.

if you want a 1/4 mile cam... then you want a monster upper end cam... where the rpms will be between 4000-6400 while at WOT. if you want well rounded cam, then a balance between low end, and upper end is needed... stay away from the 6.1, 273.. these are both upper rpm cams... look at the sidewinder, and spartan cams.. there are many variations of the spartan, for different rpm ranges.. its all on how you degree it.

Again, between the 260 and 268 I would recommend the 268. You seem a lot like me, you want to go fast lol. The 260 is pretty mild, and I think it would leave a lot to be desired considering the time and money you're going to spend on a cam. Once you get a good tune behind it (and the Diablo should be able to provide the custom tune you need), the 268 is an excellent upgrade. goodluck1

A word to the wise.

I found out that if you stick to the true EXPERTS you will be fine. You had some excellent advise a few posts back. The more opinions you get the more confused you will be. As they say, "Opinions are like A**holes everybody has one"

Been there myself.

I also think you will be better of with true 2.5 duals with an x-pipe verses the 3 inch like you said.

Guessing this was directed at me? I haven't had 10 cams in my truck, only one that has yielded excellent results despite having stock heads and stall converter. I might not have 4,000 posts but I promise you I'm not a newcomer to this engine or platform, and simply gave the original poster some advice based on my experience. Are you now going to insult the guys who chime in on the mindlessly repetitive air intake and muffler threads?
