I want to switch out the gears on my 2004 Reg. Cab Hemi.
I use my truck for everyday driving, but I also like to run the 1/4 mile
at the track and occasionally pick a race on the street. haha.
Im not too worried about mpg, but I would like to know the the difference.
Which gears do you think would best suit me, 3.73, 3.92, 4.10, 4.56?

I just got 4.56 Motive gears installed. If you want acceleration that's the ticket. burnout

What gears do you have now and what size tires? Also, what did you run in the 1/4? Around town, 4.56 gears will feel the best. The truck will feel much quicker up to 65mph and will be much more responsive. After 65mph, it depends on what speed you are going.

Here is what I know with my 3.92 gears combined with 20" rims. I have not changed my gears, but I did run some 275x40-17's on the back at the track to see what it would do. The math shows that putting the tiny tires on was the equivalent to running 4.70 gears with the stock 20's. The pull to 65mph was much quicker but then it will shift to 3rd. It shifts at 80mph to 3rd with the 20's. The pull in 3rd from 65mph to 80mph is not near as strong as the pull in 2nd with the big tires from 65-80mph. The pull from 80 to 90mph in 3rd with the little tires is better than the pull in 3rd from 80-90mph with the big tires.

I pasted a message below from my drag race topic where I talked about what the tires did for me. This would be very close to running 4.56 gears and my stock 20" tires.

The 25.5" tires dropped my 60ft by a tenth and my 1/8 time by 0.24 but it only dropped my 1/4 time by 0.15. The problem is that 3rd is just not a good gear for stock power levels. With the small tires on, at the point in the track where 2nd used to pull hard, I am now struggling in 3rd for a long way. It pulls harder with the small tires in the last 200 feet where it was in 3rd even with the big tires, but that is just not enough to make up for the extra time it spends in the lower rpm in 3rd now with the small tires. I also thought my 60ft would be better than that. My wife's Explorer still gets a better 60ft!

I ran it with the 20's for a baseline and it ran 15.329 @ 88.02 with a 2.265 60ft and not much stall. It was hot off the street and I only had time to remove the spare. It was 80 degrees out with a cross wind. I swapped the tires and it ran 15.156 @ 88.09 with a 2.166 60ft. It probably would have had half of that improvement with the big tires just from sitting for 50 minutes and launching a little harder. Notice the speed is almost identical.

I installed 4.56 recently and now I have awesome torque/hp to rear wheels !!!! Gears will costs around 250 (need a gear package with install kit.) Install labor should run around 400 - 600. Make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing or it can really screw up your gears......

Welcome and 4.56 FTW. For the money, time, and effort, that ratio will be most worth your while.

Yes 4.56s will top you out at a lower speed but with our ridiculous overdrives I don't think you'll ever actually top it out.

I'm still trying to decide between 4.56s and 4.10s

I just got my 4.56 motives in and finally have them broken in. Turned my truck into a beast. Mine is the QC so your rpms might be a little diff but im running about 2200 RPMs at 65 MPH and 2400 in tow haul. MPGs are about 15 in the city and 18 HWY if I keep it under 60 MPH. Go 4.56s you won't regret it.
