I have recently purchased an '07 ram Hemi. Unfortunately I didn't realize that I needed to run 89 octane gas (so I ran regular for a couple of tanks). So I am still purging the regular gas. In the mean time, I replaced the stock exhaust by removing the 1st resonantor, new performance muffler. Now that I can hear the engine, I can tell it is not running right when cruising down the road at low RPM's, it sounds like it is flooded. When I step on it, it sounds ok, but I am pretty sure something is wrong. Any ideas? Is it possible the computer is confused by the gas and needs time to adjust? Thanks for the help!

Welcome, and it sounds like you're hearing MDS kicking in which will be much more noticeable after adding a performance exhaust. I doubt a couple of tanks of 87 octane would hurt ya. Congrats on the new truck!

Yep, agreed! sounds like MDS

hit your tow haul button and see if it still does it.

My moms been running 87 octane in her 05 hemi durango since it was brand new and she hasn't had any problems with it. I wouldn't do it but you'll be ok. You're knock sensors will make sure your motor survives

Welcome aboard Mac's 07 Hemi - we're glad you joined us!
Most likely the MDS doing its thing is what you're hearing. Like Starchief_59 suggested, try disengaging O/D and see if you can still hear the noise.

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, I still have this issue when OD is off. So it sounds like MDS is only active when in OD. Is it possible I caused this by removing the 1st resonator? In case you haven't noticed, I don't know much about this stuff, but I appreicate the help

OD will still go into MDS. Turn tow haul on.

Look up MDS on youtube and let us know if that's what it is

You guys are good. When in tow/haul mode, I don't have the problem. I still wonder if I have another issue, when I step on it, it doesn't take off like I think it should.
Thanks for the help!
