I just spoke with a hemi tuner elcobra44 who suggested that I go with shorty headers when installing a cam so I don't lose low-end torgue.

Can anyone provide feedback on the above????

I was planning on going with a Spartan Cam btw.

He's a traveling installer for Inertia Motorsports that specializes in Hemi's and just happens to have a shop within 5 miles of my house in IL. Just incredible luck.

You will gain alot more torque with LT's than you will with shorties, especially going with a cam. I suggest you do alot of research before going with an inertia cam thumb2

Thanks for the feedback guys. I sent a PM to 392Stu, but haven't heard back yet.

As far as research goes, that's what I hope to get through this thread. I rely member's experience more than vendor claims or statements.

Hey sppb - I see you use Superchips with the comp 260... So no issues? No need for special tuning? Idle, WOT and highway okay? How bout fuel economy? Lot's of questions, I know. Thanks.

Hemi1569 - Thanks for the heads up. I do know the have a couple 113LSA cams, I wonder if those are the 218's you're referring to.

never had a problem with the 260 with just Superchips, i believe i had a rich code once but it was due to a half bad MAP sensor, but with the PSC1 works even better.
The gas mileage i can't complain, i got about 100 hp over stock and still have the same gas mileage so if you compare mpg/hp yes it's better

Can I ask why? The Spartan cam on a 113LSA is what I want to put in my truck hopefully fairly soon. Is there a problem with them on the HEMI? I have talked to a few people who have them in their trucks and even rode in one that had one installed to get a feel for it and I really liked it.

I'm not gonna say that they are bad cams but the Spartan has not been proven in a RC Hemi. We've seen what the Spartan can do in a QC, see Chefred and 05whitehemi's 13.0x and 13.1x runs. I do have the Spartan but do not get to race as much as others do, so I have not been able to prove that the Spartan is a contender for a 12 sec pass (pretty much what any hardcore Hemi guy wants to get out of his truck N/A). I do know that the 268 and 210x are proven cams to help get that desired 12 sec pass.

Personally I would be happy to get mine into the high 13's low 14's for now. And as long as there is nothing "wrong" with it that is the rout I am going.

Personally and from what I have heard there are alot better cams out there for the money. I myself have not tried any so I won't suggest one but I have heard alot of positive post on the KRC 210X, I know it moved a QC really good down the track so in a RC it should produce real good numbers.

Because the ones the Spartan moved down the track have significant weight reduction Wink
