I've decided on a Jason tonneau for my 06 quad cab short box but the spoiler is removed to allow installation reviling the holes that held in on and the only solution that appears out there is a strip of black plastic to cover. I don't want a black strip there detracting from the clean lines and matching light khaki paint to the truck.

1st MOD. Weather Tech Matts front and back

Mods so far: Weather Tech Matts front and back, Alarm with Auto Start, Goodyear Silent Armor Tires.

I agree on the black tailgate protector not looking good, but if you check on having the holes filled and the tailgate repainted you learn to live with it. At least I have. Frowner

Most places that sell tonneau covers sell the plastic filler plugs. They are little round headed plastic buttons. They snap into the holes where the bolts used to go. Some guys just paint match them as well.

BAK makes a tailgate cap just for this, and it is paintable. I have them available on my website. I installed one on my truck so I could put the Undercover on. You really don't notice it with that tonneau cover. On thing you can do, check your salvage yards for a late model truck without the spoiler. Not all of them had the spoiler on them. Look specifically for the SXT models...

So what have we learned in 2 millennia?

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."
- Cicero - 55 B.C.

Apparently, nothing......

"How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong.
Because someday in life you will have been all of these."

George Washington Carver

Good idea. Just drive around and find a truck the same color as yours without the spoiler. Ask the owner if he wants to trade tailgates. He is getting the spoiler for free so why not. Takes about 30 seconds to change the tailgate.

"I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." - Benjamin Franklin

Yea, the strip definately does not look good, but I plan on filling them in and relocating the handle to the inside since you cant open the tailgate with the tonneau on anyway.

Bought the tail gate cover off Duane the 3-m tape on the inside goes right over the 4 holes. You can't see them.

After I bought my Gaylord lid I found out they make one with a lip in the back that covers the spoiler holes....A little too late.
