Yo From NY,

I just bought my 5th Ram a New Hemi Quad for my birthday a couple weeks ago, and I am now looking for a Tonneau Cover that folds or is at least workable during the cold winter months if I have to remove and replace it.

I also occasionally carry an extension ladder or Kayak.

I want the folding or roll up tonneau with out the snaps. In any temp below 40 it's almost impossible to resnap the snaps, Even on the winter setting of Bows and snaps.

I have looked at the Velcro edged covers but don't know how good they work. Let me know this too.

Thanks

Mohawk

I have a TRUXPORT rollup cover on my Colorado. It is the velcro attatch type. The combination of the black cover and hot sun caused the glue holding the velcro in place to soften enough to slide up and the tarp went slack. It looks like hell now but it suits the POS truck. I have seen some with a vinyl lip that rolls into a groove. Prolly a much better system.

Take a look at the Extang Solid Fold. It's an aluminum cover that that can be installed or removed in less than 60 seconds. Or, you can fold it up to the front, attach a strap, and drive around with it open. You won't have to worry about messing up any vinyl in the winter.

Thanks for the replies guys,

BigBlock, Those are some awesome pictures you included. I jumped around and checked it out on the web, But I couldn't use a rack with that folding cover, But it is Awesome looking.
Maybe a tad more expensive than others I have owned but I could see where it would last you longer too.

And 07hemisport, I too will have to check out the vinyl lip that rolls into a groove. I have seen adds with it, But just skipped over, Now I'm off to hunt for it.

Thanks for the welcome too.

Well I hunted around and didn't find what I wanted.
Which was the Tonneau Cover with Rack.
But I did come across and awesome deal.
We got a local guy that just bought out the Downey Name and is going to set up a shop and sell and service the Downey Line along with whatever he has been selling.
Anyway, It's been tough finding aftermarket parts for the 2009 since Chrysler shut down production in January. Most of the aftermarket folks also shut down making parts for the 09's.

Anyway using my truck as a test bed He found a Tri Fold that fit my Box and sold it to me for $200 Cash with full 10 year Warranty.

I am quite pleased with this cover and it removes in a matter of Minutes if needed.

Thanks for the Response Guys.

Bigblock - Do you have any pics of an extang solid fold on a dodge truck? That looks like a great cover and I am strongly considering it. I am wondering if it covers the stake pockets when installed.

I am also considering the Fold-a-cover - but it looks like the extang installs and uninstalls quicker and easier. I want something that I can easily remover quickly if I need to haul something larger. I think the extang fastening system is only 4 points and can be done by hand.

Thanks!

I'm sorry, I don't have a picture for you. But, I can tell you that the Solid Fold probably will NOT completely cover your stake pockets. The FoldACover does not uninstall easily. It's not made to be removed/installed quickly like the Solid Fold.

And as for removing easy, I can remove my folding one in less than 2 minutes.

Or just fold it back to the cab in less than 30 seconds.

Plus store it in the back seat area if I need the whole bed.

and with the locking tailgate, It IS LOCKABLE.

I have had solid Covers twice and Never will own one again.
