The service 4wd light came on in my truck. It's at 42,000 miles so I know it's due for a service. Does anybody know where the sensor is at for the 4wd system? Is in in the T-case or someplace else?

You got me. I wouldn't have thought it would come on just for a fluid service. That's new to me. heck, I don't even know what the recommended interval is. I know I want to do mine if I can get around the stupid exhaust pipe blocking the drain plug...lol.

According to the service record manual that came with the truck it says to service it at 35,000 miles.

How much fluid did it take?
I have to get it done. I'm taking a trip with it to Main in July. So I need to get it done before then.

Ok I found out the Service 4wd light is connected to:
A low fluid sensor in the T-Case
The electronic control to engage the T-case
The front axle and the rear axle

I changed the fluid in the T-case today to find out the light came back on.
I also found out while playing with it that my 4wd doesn't engage so I'm guessing it's going to be the electronic controller.

Found out why my service 4wd light was on. When I pulled my dash surround to hook up my driving lights I unplugged all the connectors for the heater and the 4wd. I guess when I plugged it back in it wasn't making a good enough connection. The plug was snapped in but when I wiggled it I heard the 4wd engage.
A very simple solution. I like that. Big Grin
