What do you 4x4 guys carry as far as recovery equipment (and 4x2 guys too, for that matter)...
I always have:
Warn winch (M8000)
(2) 6 ton clevis' attached to winch mount
(2) additional 6 ton clevis'
16,000# rated snatch block
30' 30,000# lb. tow strap
8,000# axle strap
4"x10' tree saver
folding shovel
12v jump starter w/ air compressor
MAPP gas welder w/ rods suitable for steel, aluminum welding and brazing
tire repair kit
bottle jack, rechargeable Q-Beam, 12v Q-beam, & various flashlights.

and if I happen to have the ATV in the bed then I also have:
Warn 2.5 winch
(2) 1 ton clevis'
7,000# snatch block
15' 10,000# tow strap
axle strap
3"x10' tree saver
portable 12v compressor
tire repair kit

I have a hi-lift farm jack, two 30' 30,000# tow straps, a shovel, tire repair kit,WD-40, starting fluid (among other oils/fluids) a few essential tools and most importantly a few good buddies. beer

I carry a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, usually a cooler with some drinks, and a tire repair kit, since I don't carry a spare.

highlift/highjack is a must as well as some 2x6 boards. Ive got my work truck out of places with just that where my 10,000lb winch wouldn't even get it out. Plus there isn't always somewhere to winch to.

I carry in my Rig,

Fire Ext.
4 ton come-along,
20' logging chain
30' recovery strap,
tree saver,
various wrenches and sockets
2 flashlights,
.380 handgun
various shackles and snatchblocks
cooler with drinks and some kind of food
few hot women
air horn
wd-40
diff fluid - works in a pinch if you have a bad oil leak
electrical tape,
screwdrivers
lighter and some papers if you have to stay the night
cell phone
if hot women are with, blankets for sure.
Hope this list will help you in your offroad adventures, and sometimes having a winch isnt all its cracked up to be! beer

well... my list is for the atv (800efi polaris sportsman)... and it is my "offroad" rig. there is a small group of us (4-7 guys) that gtg once a month and go ride.. either the creek beds, rock quarries, or sand pits.

YES, if you are wondering... cross some pretty crazy stuff on atv's.... there is at least one, if not two of us that have to be towed back to the trailer at the end of the day... usually because we flooded it out.

This happened in Telico a few years back. The tire is NOT under there to hold jeep up it is STILL connected to the jeep. This picture was taken before we fixed it and drove it out, another hour on the trail and then another hour back town. Rough area out there.
