No, that's not even a little bit normal. Get it checked out at the dealership ASAP and don't settle for "we couldn't find anything wrong with it." Make them fix or replace it.

Like Freeze says, that sure doesn't sound right. The only time I think you might hear or feel anything is if you've got axle-wrap, binding in the 4WD system.

Before taking it out of 4WD, try backing up about 50 feet in a straight line, then shift out of 4X4 and see if it's any different.

Highly unlikely. Sounds like a t-fer case problem.

alright if it is a minor grinding sound when you engage or disengage the 4wd then that was kinda normal if you didnt engage it properly I know when i used mine the first time it wasnt fully in drive so when i tried to go it was grinding for a sec till it completely engaged. But for about a month or two after when i would put it in reverse it made a slight grind noise but it is gone now. i didnt ruin my t case or tranny or anything in the tranny it was a normal thing for me ive heard it before when i had the manual shift 4x4 in the chevy so i chalked it up to first time use and dodges tranny problem before the recall ugh lol.
