on my way home from work today the service light for the 4x4 came on when i got on the highway, if i switch it to AWD or 4-high those lights blink on & off, not the serv light it just stays on. when i got home i shut it off then started it back up, no more serv light??? I'll have to see if happens again, any of u guys run into this before? it's an 06 with 39000 miles on it, Thanks any info would be great.

well i got in my ram this morning and the small letter "N" was lite up red, it's on the bottom left hand corner of the 4x4 switch, and my 4x4 was not working. i called my dealer but the service guy was no help he just wants me to bring it in, i called another dealer and he said to put it in neutral and press the recessed button right on the side of the letter "N" for a few seconds and what do u know the red light goes off and i got my 4x4 back, but it will not go in 4LO it just keeps on blinking on & off, am i doing something wrong? sorry for the long story just trying to get some help& info about the "N" button in the owners manual it doesn't explain it that well?

I'll have to go look at mine now. I have an '03 and never noticed a button next to the "N".
I will do some on-line research and try to help. Weird that you got 4HI back by hitting the button. Hopefully that means it isn't anything expensive.

Your TIPM needs to be reprogrammed

No mods on the Ram it's all stock, what does TIPM stand for? thanks for your help guys i appreciate it alot.

I know it's a pain, but I'd definitely bring her in for service. Won't cost you anything but your time.

it will cost me atleast an hour at the dealer $90.00 i just don't want to hear "we couln't find anything wrong" from them, i went threw that already with them about a check engine light. the Ram is out of warenty

Your '06 is no longer under warranty??

Sorry - just re-read your 1st post that states 39K miles

It should still be under warranty. 06's had a 60K warranty on them. I would definitely have the dealership look at it.

the dealer ran my vin and said only 3 year or 36000 miles on my ram. my 4x4 is working now and the light is off i guess I'll have to wait and see if it happens again. i still would like to know what that small button on the side of the letter N is for. thanks again for your help guys....

Hmm, that don't sound right. I thought all of them since 03 had at least a 60K on the powertrain. My 03 has 70K
