Any benefit to spending the $100+ dollars on new keys? On my last truck I just cranked my t-bars. How hard is it to change out the keys? Isn't there a special t-bar tool, etc.? I am not sure I understand exactly how torsion bars work, really. Is it a "twist" or do they just simply keep downward pressure on the front?

I put new torsion bar keys on my 04 Hemi... It wasn't very difficult at all... We didn't have any special tools, although I am sure a special tool exists to make it even easier...

If you tighten your stock torsion bars, you will get a slight lift from them... The replacement keys give you an extra inch or so... After I replaced mine, people noticed and commented positively... It's a little more rough of a ride, but not bad...

I got 2 inches out of mine. So if you put the new keys in, they raise you an inch or so, and then can you torque them up even another 2 inches like the stock? The full torque on the stock ones levels it if not over levels it, so I am just trying to see if putting different keys in is beneficial. dunno

Aftermarket keys are the exact shape as stock keys, at least mine were. The difference is that stock keys are hollow, to make them [cheaper?]... they weigh alot less, so I'd imagine the metal isn't as strong either. You get the exact same lift as you would if you just cranked the bolt on your stock keys, the only thing is they are hollow in the middle, so I imagine they could give under pressure where aftermarkets arn't. I'm not saying stock keys would give, I'm just saying they can.

I guess the benefit of the 130 dollar kit is peace of mind that it won't break?

From my best guess is that a torsion bar keeps downward pressure, and when you hit a bump it twists, then returns to a straight position.

Also, like he said, the "torsion bar tool" is a glorified C-Clamp, you can just use c clamps.

Is there a how to on here somewhere? It would make more sense to me if I saw one I guess.

Its writen on a few threads, not really any picture how tos (on htc).

My skyjacker kit had a few pictures and instructions on it. Plenty to do it, really simple as long has you have some floor jacks, c clamps, and sockets.

It's much simpler than it seems. Check out the Truxxx website, they may have step-by-step instructions to download.

Has anyone tried or know anyone who has tried the PRORYDE Torsion Bar Keys? They seem to have gotten good press from some of the offroad magazines.

I seriously doubt theres any difference in any torsion keys, pretty simple design.
