Need some help fellas. I just got orders to Cannon AFB in New Mexico to fly the C-130 gunships. Since I will be in the desert, it only makes sense to have a HEMI desert screamer. I have looked online for a pre-runner lift kit for my truck but have only come up with the standard lift stuff. I don't want my truck to look like a 4x4, just want lots of suspension travel and room for at least 33's. Anybody live out that way and have a hook-up at a good shop?

The only one I knew of that would be the closest was the KORE 1500 kit,.. but we have been waiting almost 2yrs for it.

2006 1500 QC TRX4 Offroad edition, factory tow package with 3.92's

My mods are located on or in my truck,.. I have come to the conclusion they work better there than posted on here.

I've looked at the KORE stuff. It's sweet stuff and is close to what I want, but looks pretty pricy. Not that I expect to get a good kit for cheap but don't want to spend 10 grand on suspension either.

Thank's for the link, Atomic has some seriously kick a$$ systems. However: Base kit- $4500.00 + Tax, not including shocks witch are another $1,800; and: Base Kit installed - $8500.00 + Applicable Tax. Turning the HEMI into a decent pre-runner may be to far out of my price range. Then again, so is most everything on my wish list........

Ok, I guess I have to ask... do you want to turn it into a pre-runner or do you want a lifted 2wd that performs really well, but is not at the pre-runner level. I will tell you, if you want pre-runner level quality... you are looking to spend at least $5k just for the kit. If you want a nice, well performing 2wd, but not spend an arm and leg... that is what I did, and I can share what I did.

mine is a hybrid...

Fabtech 6" kit, procomp coils, rear fabtech shocks from the 02-05 kit, front fabtech shocks from the 06-08 kit, and CST upper control arms...

so it is a ******* child kit...

The reason for doing this is we have tested many different components to run what we feel is best. The fabtech kit is really nice, but their coils suck. Their shocks they include in the 02-05 kit are only 2.0's, but the 06-08 kit are 2.38's, which is far better dampening and they are slightly longer, which gives the front end a much better ride and performance offroad. Then as far as the stock upper control arms, they are too weak, so we went with the CST arms which are beefy as crap, and the ball joints are race quality rebuildable units.

Now, with the kit for the 06-08, you will already get the bigger front shocks, since I used those shocks from that kit. Another thing to look at is that you shouldnt have as much problem with the coils bowing since the 06-08 kit also does not kick the lower arms out like the 02-05 kit. As far as if the CST arms fit your truck, I dont know, I havent gotten under an 06-08 truck to compare. I would say, Pro Comp or Fabtech are the two kits that will be in your price range.

That's a damn good looking truck ya got there! It sounds like what you did is pretty much what I'm looking for. I want to have a good ride with decent travel and be able to take it out in the desert or on some trails. I like the pre-runner look, but I really won't use 17" of travel and can't really handle the $$$ of it.

Thank's for the advice, I've had numerous lifted 4x4's (easy to lift) but this is the first 2wd I have lifted. Once I get out to New Mexico (moving there in November) I may give you a shout for some more help.
