Use a good quality synthetic oil, that has the SL rating, or add ZDDP to yer oil, if it doesn't have that rating. This is much more critical for motors using flat tappet cams. professor

Anytime you need to put an additive in your oil then the oil is not worth using to begin with.

AMSOIL recommends against oil additives.

Furthermore, a lot of the oil additives you have seen on T.V. have lawsuits against them with the Federal Trade Commission. A lot of products don't perform as they claim and some make things even worse.

Use a high quality synthetic and keep in mind not all synthetics are the same just as not all petroleums are.

I do agree with Superjay, flat tappet cams need more zinc and AMSOIL has products that are suited for this use. Our Hemi's are not flat tappet, so a specific oil for such flat tappet isn't needed.

I use 0W-30 in my 03' Hemi. I have 95K on her right now and have only changed the oil 3 times so far. I do use the AMSOIL By-Pass System and with oil analysis extends my oil change intervals. Otherwise 0W-30 is good for 1 year or 35,000 miles which ever comes first.

If you want some help with AMSOIL please P.M. or call me and I can recommend products for you and get it to you wholesale.

A lot of the advantages of a good synthetic you won't observe. You see it in long mileage maintenance comparisons. Kind of one of those things you just have to recognize by tests and realize that your odds of having drivetrain/valvetrain issues is a lot lower.
