I found a dealer where I can go in the store and pick up the oil off the shelf so I started to read the label and it says that the recomended change interval is 7500 mils but the website says 25000 mile what gives. Also i was looking at the XLM 5x20, they didn't have 0w20. Can somebody clarify the change intervals please. dunno

They have a lot of different oils, with change rates from 7,500, up to 35,000.

Make sure you spring for the Amsoil oil filter so you get your oil filtered down to 15 microns vs 25 microns with a conventional filter. Get with one of us dealers on the board and Amsoil will deliver to your door, you dont even have to waste gas and you will get what you want and need. My email is russellandalexis@gmail.com and there are several others on here that can help.

You might consider a dual filtration system from Amsoil for your ride. I have it on my 05 Hemi and am using the new 0W-30 oil, which is a 35,000 mile change interval. I just changed mine, which was the 5W-20, 25,000 mile oil and the motor had used about a half pint in that many miles. The mechanics were amazed at how good the oil looked when they dumped it.

My new hemi will get the bypass filter treatment except I will use oil analysis and should be able to go over 45-50k on one oil change. Best of all the oil is filtered at 15 micron full flow and 2 micron on the bypass. Oil is always clean, and it does not break down like it would in a normal change.

How is the dual filtration system going to help? Never really thought about putting two filters on, but i have considered getting a remote oil filter relocator for making teh oil change process easier.

Its not actually just a two filter system. Its a remote mount filter block with an internal passage that cycles a small % of the oil thru a bypass filter. The bypass filter is what keeps the oil clean. The main filter is a standard Amsoil full flow filter. With this system you can run your oil for a really long time. Some have gone 40k-50k and way above that. They use oil testing to analyze the health of the oil. You can sample right of the remote kit and send in a sample for about 20 prepaid postage per kit. This oil analysis is your protection, keeps you informed on how your motor is performing and wearing. Its not cheap to get started but it pays for itself over the life of the truck and then some. Plus you have the best protection possible. My truck will be outfitted soon.

I guess the next question would be how often do you need to replace the second filter and what if there is no palce that this will fit? I guess I am just trying to get something that I can be comfortable with. Also how long would it take to get the oil and filter, what would be the cost?

You typically replace the bypass filter element every other full flow filter change. Amsoil has recommendations on the instructions. This system is not cheap and unless you plan on keeping the truck for the extreme long haul it may not be worth the investment to you. I can get you an estimate, copy of the instructions which have the dementions and you can decide. My email is russellandalexis@gmail.com if you want a quote. Its not cheap, but one of those bolt on toys that actually has a purpose. Best thing you can do is just go on extended oil changes for now till you figure it all out. Get the real synthetic and a filter to get you started. Really, the money you save going 25K is amazing. And if your like me, you dont have to change your oil every month or so.
