got my oil changed at the dealer yesterday and it's way too full..

Have you taken it back to them to tell them it is over filled? I don't know how a dealer screws up oil levels, it only takes a minute to look up capacities.

Yeah, that can cause some issues can't it. I know you aren't supposed to overfill but not sure I know why, really...lol.

I would STRONGLY recommend you correct the oil level before u drive it anymore!

Have u ever rowed, or paddled a boat. Takes a lot of muscle to pull that solid object, through that liquid. Picture what it takes for the crankshaft to do it at x thousand RPM. But that's not the worse. The crank/rods, beating the oil, will aerate it. Oil pumps don't pump air too well. Yer call!

I see. So does the oil foam up or what when it does that? This is good info. I have always wondered what that caused.

To much oil can cause damage to seals and rings.

I don't know if foam would be the right word, or not, but picture an electric egg beater/cake mixer, turn it on, and lower it in a container, with water in it. Same result. There are many more bad possibilities with over full oil. It is possible the oil pump could loose its prime. Usually rapid disassembly follows that. Those of you with well pumps know what happens when air gets in the suction side. Pump can loose prime. Same principle. Also, so much oil is flung on the cylinder walls, that the oil control rings can't do their job, leading to other possible failures. 2003, Std.
