My '04 2500 HD 4x4 QC has about 90000km on it, I'd like to switch over to a full Synthetic Engine Oil and Tranny/Gear fluid. When doing that to my wifes car (@ 110000km)it really improved fuel consumption and cold starting (canadian winters Canadaflag.for the engine I used Pennzoil Platinum.
What are you guys suggestion for my whoopass

Thanks

Well, there are two options people are going to recommend on this website.

1.) Amsoil (which there are a few options to go with here) You can Private Message me if you want all the info on this oil/filters, etc. You have to get this through a dealer or on the internet. Setting up a PC account or just ordering over the phone through a dealer are the easiest options. Shipping usually takes 2-3 days. But, good thing is, you don't have to go anywhere to get it. It is a warrantied extended life oil.

2.) RP (Royal Purple) Can be picked up at a few local places usually (Pep Boys, Napa). I have used this before in the Hemi I owned. Still a very good synthetic. Plus it looks cool with its purple hue. They also offer a 12k mile filter with their oil, but no warranty backing it.

I personally switched to Amsoil for the backing of the warranty, and I am lazy and don't want to drive, and stop to get it. This way they bring it to me. Plus the intervals (25k mile) are much easier to maintain. Especially in a truck with a 7qt pan.

Bottom line, these are the best two options, and you will be happy with either over any conventional or other sythetic. If you want more info just read a few other threads in this section on Amsoil/RP. This has been covered very thorough....lol. Sorry, I LOL because most of the threads regarding this are slightly "heated" for this forum. Which is abnormal. This is about the most friendly family like forum you will find until you get on this topic of RP vs. Amsoil.

howdy Given that you are out in the middle of NOWHERE, I would highly recommend ordering enough AMSOIL Signature Series 0W-30 or 0W-20 and EaO synthetic oil filters for both your truck and your wife's car.

iagree I am using the SSO series Amsoil and love it. I run the dual filtration system and change oil at 25 to 30,00, miles or once a year. I have been on Amsoil many years and it has provided my vehicles excellent protection.
