I purchased a "gas saver" V6 mustang last year and have since only been driving my truck about 1 day a week. Ive only put 1000 miles on it since last September. After the truck has been sitting a week and I go out to start it up just for a second it sounds like a metal on metal sound coming from the motor. So my question is, is there a way to prevent a "dry start" after a vehicle has been sitting? And does that second of contact im hearing gonna damage anything?

Im already planning to switch to Amsoil at my next change. Been running Mobil 1 but with the talk of it no longer being a full synthetic I figure nows the time. I had a friend who got me some Amsoil ATF4 and gear oil at cost but he recently moved. I havent needed anything to contact the dealer and see if he can still give it to me at cost or not. Hemi5, Im assuming you would hook a brother up, but id hafta pay shipping right?

Hemi5 can definately take care of you VAHemi17.

On the order of preventing dry starts AMSOIL's synthetics have great flow and will help prevent the dry start. AMSOIL also offers the AMS-Oiler Oil PreCharger. There is a stand alone unit and a unit that directly fits the by-pass kit.

I use it and it adds great peace of mind.

bigkumadog you don't need to run any additives with AMSOIL. And your sure don't won't to mix a petroleum product with a synthetic. Technically speaking though you can mix them so they are compatible but not a smart choice. You won't be getting your moneys worth with the AMSOIL if your were to mix.

If you like toys and people with Hemis love toys install the Amsoil Bypass Filter kits with a prelube system. Turn on the key and is releases oil to the system. An audible beep lets you know when its ready to fire up. More information on Amoils website. Not cheap

I have the dual filtration system, so my Amsoil stays clean. I have 21,000 on my last change and have used less than a pint of Amsoil 5W-20. I am changing this week to Amsoil SSO-0W30. This is a new Amsoil product and is the best they have. Costs a little more, but cost of oil compared to cost of truck is minimal. I also ordered the EAA filter for my true flow. I has a 100,000 mile warranty and is the best out there.
