I'm jumping ship.
Next oil change will be RP or Amzoil. I hear Red Line is a group IV base stock oil also that is excellent.

With Mobil 1, you're really wasting your money. It's all show and no go. Get AMSOIL or Royal Purple.

I heard something about them going from a tier 4 oil, to a tier 3, I guess meaning it's not as good as they were. Whatever it means. Ordering some Amsoil for next time around. Mobil will be good for the beater.

i think this is mistaken for Castrol Syntec which is a base III stock hydrocracked petro oil, which = NOT SYNTHETIC at all. Castrol is a big ripoff. They havent been synthetic since about 10 years ago when it was PAO based oil. Mobil is PAO based oil which is in fact a synthetic oil, they took castrol to court over the dispute that Syntec is hardly synthetic yet it advertised FULLY SYNTHETIC, and THE FIRST TRUE SYNTHETIC, all LIES. Mobil, Amsoil, and Redline are your basic tested synthetics. RP ive personally seen blocks that have used RP and it just looked funky. Wasnt sludge or anything to that nature, but it left a lot of residue and stains behind, didnt look natural.

I'm not sure about Mobil, that's just what I heard. I've always prefered Amsoil, but Mobil always did the same thing for cheaper it seemed. Problems other people were having running other synthetics on the same turbo'ed car as mine, I wasn't having.

Was using Royal Purple then Mob1e 1 Extended performance and with both I was always seemed to be down a half a quart or more all the time .Now I use Amsoil 5-30 it stays at the full mark and dosen't discolor in 2 days like the other stuff. had it in for a month now and its still golden amber in color. The truck seems to like the stuff, starts easier and come to temp quicker in cold weather . I buy it at a local autoparts place here in Canada..its always in stock and I dont have to order online thumb2

I use Royal Purple had it in for almost 5,000 miles now and haven't had to add a drop. As far as it discoloring it wouldn't stay golden amber well because it is purple Big Grin

Oh yeah and on another note Mobile/Exxon Corp is the biggest importer of foriegn oil. This alone should dicourage you from buying any of there products.
