Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Switch Circuit Low Voltage

Something odd has happened twice to me now. I've refueled and when I start my truck the "Check Gauges" light comes on and my oil pressure is nill. I had an Amsiol bypass unit and AMSoiler installed with my Amsoil 0w-30 Signature oil change on 7/30. Could there be something going on with this new hardware? Could the AMSoiler have issues? Seems to be working correctly -- When I turn the switch to run it alarms and I see a slight fluctuation in the oil pressure before I start the engine.

One note: when I refuel, I turn the switch to run (engine is off) to log then reset the trip mileage and MPG... in the overhead console. I then turn the switch off again until it's full then start it normally - turn switch to run, wait for alarm to quit then tip-start.

I stopped at the dealership yesterday and they replaced the oil sending unit (because I'm a good customer Wink ) but blamed my "after market upgrade" as the problem; said the oil pump tested fine. I just topped off the fuel tank getting ready to leave for Hilton Head, SC and it happened again. There's no pinging and the engine continues to run smoothly the oil level is where it should be.

If I shut the engine off for 30 seconds or so and restart it my oil pressure returns to normal.

Where should I start? AMSiol dealer who installed my hardware or, back to the dealership?

well i know alot about chrysler problems and this is not one that i have ever heard of, but it defnintely could be the new hardware, sounds like there is a problem electrically, there is probably something that wasnt installed correctly or installed very well.

I stopped up to the AMSoil dealer and we talked about what may be wrong. We don't believe it's the new hardware because it seems to be more electrical than mechanical. What he did do is install a temporary manual oil pressure gauge -- teed off of the sending unit. At least I'll have piece of mind on my trip and, it may help prove what is really going on. He also gave me a standard replaceable AMSoil filter so I could remove the bypass unit if I had to. All at no charge! If I choose to keep the manual oil pressure gauge after my trip, we'll settle up then. Otherwise he'll remove it.

Time to get crackin' on the packin'...
