Hey all. I've been reading the last few AMSOil posts and I'm pretty much sold except for one thing. I read on the AMSOil product application that "Vehicles with the 5.7 Multiple Displacement SYS (MDS) must use SAE 5W-20 oil. Failure to do so may result in improper operation of the Multiple Displacement SYS (MDS)". If I choose to go with the Syn 0W-20 or Sig Ser 0W-30, will that screw up my MDS???? Or would it be safer to go with the Syn 5W-20? I want to replace the oil in my Ram and Magnum, but I want to be sure I'm getting the right oil.

Thanks,
Mark

Amsoil released the 0W-20 for this purpose. My new truck that I pick up tomorrow (my first Hemi) will be receiving this new Amsoil after 2k miles. The first number is for cold start up and since its synthetic, does not really matter. All the SAE specs on oil were originally written for natural oil products, they have not changed the specs to meet the performance of todays full synthetic oil. Look at the temperature Vs viscosity. If you take a bottle of 10W-30 conventional oil and Amsoil, put them both in the freezer for a while. When you take them out the conventional oil will be much more sluggish in the bottle than the Amsoil. Synthetic oil pour point is nearly the same warm as cold. So order your Amoil, get the filter also and keep the Hemi protected.
