Has anybody noticed a loss in power with royal purple because I put it in my truck and it feels slightly weaker.
'04 Ram Black RC/SB 4X4. I love this truck!!! I got it Sept. 5, 2007. I wanted one for the past three years and I got it (thanks to my girlfriend). I plan on getting performance parts that include the ramhammer intake, aero-turbine exhaust, programmer, and 4.56 gears just to name a few things. |

What weight did you put in? Also make sure you did not overfill it. How is your pcv?

YES YES YES! What I have noticed is when my vehicle is cold the oil pressure guage seems to be reading a much higher pressure and then as it warms up it comes back down, and that was 5-20. I'm seeing about .5 - 1mpg less and that is hand calculated not using the truck computer. As far as it feeling weaker, I'm not a good judge, but the figures on mpg indicate that to me.

I used 5w30. The pcv is fine.

well to be completely honest IMO, Royal Purp. Engine oil is a waste of money, ive actually personally seen blocks that have been apart that ran RP and it left some stains, looked like smears, i know it use to be NOT RATED i dont know if it is now or not, but i would just use CASTROL SYNTEC 5w-30 and you will be fine, AMSOIL is the best but $$$$$, Mobil is very good but Doesnt have as good of protection from Metal to Metal contact as Castrol does but nothing outdoes amsoil.

I used to recommend Mobil1 as an alternative to AMSOIL, but I agree with you Castrol Syntec does better. There's just nothing like AMSOIL. I really don't think it's expensvie though. I got a deal on Mobil 1 and did my most recent oil change with it. I'd always been under the impression that it was the best in synthetic, at least of those found common on the shelves of local parts stores. Castrol Syntec, huh.

I went with the Amsoil on mine and its not that expensive considering you can get 20-25 K on an oil change.

All our 1 year oils are 1year/25K miles.
With the exception of 0W-30 which is 1year/35K miles. I've personally gone 1 year 10 months and 35,008 miles. My dad made it 3 years and 35,000 miles.
