Can someone possibly let me know what could be going wrong with my A/C? While driving sometimes my A/c blows semi-cooled air through the vents. My recir mode is almost always on since I hate smelling exaust fumes and my windows are up. Ive tried driving at high and low rpm's but it makes no difference on how I drive. One minute the a/c is cold, the next its halfway cold. Ive checked the R-134 levels and they are right where its supposed to be in the green. Im thinking it could be the compressor clutch acting up half the time or possibly the condensor fan. Any ideas so I know which part to purchase? Thanks

No codes or check engine light at all. I believe I had called Art at Henson motors a week ago and he said it COULD be the condenser fan which is a common problem with our trucks, but ive opened the hood and see the fan is turning on.

just went for a 30 min drive and noticed that under light throttle load under 1800rpms the a/c works fine. Like when im heading uphill and have to put a little strain on the motor for over 10-15 seconds OR going on a level road about 70mph and hitting about 2000 rpms the a/c gets luke warn. Just more info for those of you that could possibly clue me in as to whats going on.

Mine was doing that last year and the clutch assembly was shot ..If it does turn out to be that .There is a bolt that holds it on including a c -clip ..once both are off its little effort to remove. you made need a puller or you may be able to just gently tap it off all around the perimeter with a rubber hammer ..depends on if it is seized on. Good luck what ever it is

Same prob here, Lee. Reads good charge, but blows cold/hot/cold/hot. 5speedhemi, how do you check for a bad compressor clutch? It's not making any horrible noises when engaging.

Mine was obvious it was seizing up and shooting rubber blobs all over the underside of the hood
but even before that started to happen ..it had those same symptoms you have now..and still had a full charge as yours does

i stopped at a stoplight today, put truck in neutral, reved to a constant 2300 RPM's and set a/c to full blast on recir. mode. I noticed intermittenly after 5-8 seconds the rpm would dip down 300-400 rpms then after a couple of seconds go back to 2300 like the a/c compressor was engaging. when it dipped down, the a/c got cool again after 3 seconds then when the rpms went back to 2300 the a/c was not as cool almost room temp.

the charge reads in the green but it might still be low (it's just the system presure), i took mine to the dealer and they said it was normal so i got a charger kit (with just the gas no oil) and it only took about 2 OZ now even in a 100 degree day it still blows below 55, trust me, it's low, just make sure you use just the gas, not the mix, keep the can upright and shake it, the can will get really cold when the system is sucking the gas, at this point you stop and test, repeat if necessary until you get cold air 100% of the time
