have had a few recent occurances where my blower switch seems to have lost power. A/C light still on just no fan. Sometimes it just comes back on it's own at other times I have had to shut-off the truck and restart a few times...fuse? short? bad switch? any or all of the above?...Thanks, Jim

or possibly the blower motor itself.
if you have high speed only it is probably the blower resistor.

I agree to do the resistor, but also recomend changing the blower motor while your at it cause I have done just the resistor in mine and my fan speed never was quite right, changed the motor and blows your hair off! moon

Mine started with the same thing, had to turn off and on then maybe it would work. Then it would come on for no reason with the key off...ran the battery down. Then I discovered I could get it to come back on if I played with the tilt wheel... moving it up and down slowly until it suddenly would come on. Just last week, the fan started only blowing on high...turn it down, it goes off with the compressor light still on. Now, I leave it on high so I get the cooling, but when I tilt the wheel all the way up at the end of the trip, it shuts off with the light still on. After reading the comments here, it looks like the resistor needs changing, but I can't help feel there's a short in the wiring harness inside the steering wheel. Wadayathink?

I agree, no sense. Sometimes the blinker won't work, and sometimes the bright light switch doesn't work either...then it will...then it might...then... It's been like this the whole time I've owned the truck. And as usual, it wont perform for the dealer...like it's scared of the dealer or something. Now it's out of warr. Mad

my 04 CTD had an intermittent problem with the blinker not wanting to work (any of the functions). Ended up having to replace the blinker switch, and steering wheel wiring harness to correct the problem. both where done at the same time, so couldn't tell ya what one specifically fixed the problem, but would guess the wiring harness seeing how you are having the "same" intermittent problems. Wish i could tell you how much it was, but mine was performed under warranty by the dealership. Wink
goodluck

Its a problem for those who use the tilt alot. My first 03 went up in flames do to this. I had a write-up in the T.D.R website with pictures after it went up in smoke. The large plug on the steering colomn that plugs into the ignition module works loose and starts to burn the contacts and over heat the wires. The first sighn is the blower will run after the truck is off. Another blower fan problem is, it will turn off for no reason. That problem is with the blower motor plug most of the time. The plug gets hot and melts the contact so you have to push it back on, and if its to melted you have to replace it. All of my 03s and 04s had this problem. The wire harness on the steering column was a problem in most of the dodge vans first. I received a sealed settlement from D.C over my 03 in 04 and the problem was fixed in 05.

Check the plug on the blower motor, I bet $100 bucks it is melted or black inside the plug. If you dont check it, then the next time it turns off reach under the dash and move the plug and I bet my 340 pound butt it will come on. I have had this problem on many of my Dodge trucks.

YES YES if you have to tilt your wheel up and down you have a short in the harness plug. Take the cover off the steering column and unplug the large harness plug that goes into the round black ignition module. What you will find is that the contacts inside the harness plug are burnt and black. If the problem has gone on for a while, the wire's that go into the connector will be melted some. DO NOT let this go on any longer. The truck can go up in flames. If you can clean the contacts and plug it back in, wrap a large ziptie or two around the module and harness to keep them together or take it to the dealer and let them know you have done some research and found there is a TSB for this. If they try and charge you for the fix, tell them its a known safty issue and you will see them in court if the truck goes up in flames. The way they fix it is to splice a new plug with longer wires into the harness to give some slack in it. You may also have a melted or burnt plug on the blower motor along with you steering column harness. Take a look at it and let me know. I have a list of people with this problem and I am fighting to get a recall issued for this problem.
