So a new problem started with my '05 today, air only blows out the defroster vents regardless what position the control switch is in. If I have it set to one of the dash vent settings, a little bit of air blows out the dash vents but most of it still blows out the defroster vents, nothing is coming out of the floor vents on any floor vent setting. I pulled the 40A fuse for the blower to try and reset, no change. I checked the two plug connections coming out of the back of the control module in the dash, they were fine. Also, the blower motor doesn't sound like it normally does, it seems to have a deeper tone to it. Did some searching here and sounds like I might be another victim of the dreaded broken defrost door? Everything I could find shows a TSB for the '03 model, somebody posted they are having similar issues with their '08. Looks like the '05 model can be added to the list perhaps? Or could this be something else?

Check your switch!! otherwise you are going to have to get into your dash to fix it!!

The switch must be okay as I'm getting a little from the dash vents on dash vent settings, a little from the floor on floor settings. I
m still not getting an appreciable amount of air flow in comparison to the speed setting. Example, with the fan speed on full blast, I'd say the air coming from a selected vent is coming out at say speed 2. All the while, though, you can still hear/feel it blowing from the defrost ports. What's strange is it seems the air flow seems more powerful on heat vice cool, I get even less air flow on cool air settings. Also, I'm now getting a whistling sound in the middle passenger side of the dash. Something has to be screwed up with the defroster and/or blend door. This sucks. I've got a similar problem with my 05. I was up on Sandia Crest in New Mexico and shut the truck off to check out the tourist trap shop at the top. I came back out to the truck and fired it up to leave. The little light for the A/C started flashing and the A/C would not switch from the defroster vent, which I had been using on my ascent. At that point, the A/C was working fine with the exception of not being able to switch from the defroster vents, but later in the day, the A/C compressor stopped turning so there was no cool air. Also, the mirror defroster button doesn't seem to work now. This was a week ago since this happened and now the A/C works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. But no matter what I have the temperature set at, everything comes out of the defroster vents.
Any ideas? I took it to the Dodge stealership in Santa Fe and they told me it was the climate control's control head. Unfortunately, they didn't have one in stock. I asked if it would hurt the truck for me to continue on my vacation with this being the way it is and they said I shouldn't have any problems. What say ye oh Dodge entusiast jury? ____________________________________________________ Please support the arts! Take a tuba player to lunch. http://waynesworld.17.forumer.com/ |
