Is it pretty much a guarantee that the included bolts will back out? I know the ones on the Stang always need to be retightened and I want to be able to install the headers on the Ram and forget about them. Do the stage 8 lockers really work? Are they a pain to install?

Thanks.

Yes the do work. The lock's are a pain to install but you only have to do it once.I had a long pair of needle nose plier's and a friend to help install the lock's and clip's.He was up top with the plier's putting them in place and i was under the truck locking them on.Make sure your over a clean surface when installing them. Some of the clip's will get away and you'll have to find it.

Are they more hassle than they are worth? They are pretty pricey too.

well put it this way, if you don't use them and your headers get loose and blow the gasket there goes all the savings.
Question is: "Do you feel lucky..." Big Grin

Installed properly, the bolts that come with the Edelbrock headers will work fine. Mine have been on over three years, and no problem.

Stage 8's are a waste of money as stated previously just tighten em down and retorque after a few heat cycles and you won't have to worry. Also use the factory gaskets from Dodge and you will be fine.

iagree Mine have been in about a year with the hardware that came with the shorties and I've had no problems. I did re-torque them twice.

The problem with header bolt's is access to them on the hemi's.You can't get a torque wrench on but a few of them. You can only get a small open end wrench in there and hand tighten them.I did'nt want to recheck them every so often so opted for the stage 8's.I have alway's done the same as the rest and retightened them after a few heat cycles and never had a problem. If you add more power with a lumpy cam (more vibration's)i think they are cheap insurance and worth the money and time for the peace of mind.I'll see how they hold up with the Spartan 113 lsa cam i just installed once it's tuned.(The truck definetly shake's more.) I did a little wheeling and dealing and got mine free with my Dynatech's so they were going on.The lock's are not neccesary. But with them i never have to worry about loose header bolt's.
