Hey all! Big Grin

So, I've got some noise coming from my brakes and it's about that time anyways, so I need to do my brakes SOON.

I don't really have the know how and tools to do this, so I figured, before I go to some shop and pay someone to do it, I'd see if i could get some help on here taking care of it.

I'm not sure what's fair for a brake job, but I could definitely pay someone like $50 or so, if need be, to help me do the brake job....

If you've got the time, let me know. thumb2

come on up, I'd be glad to do it for $50 Big Grin

hopefully someone will post up soon, but it really is one of the easiest brake jobs i have ever done, heck even Morris could do it ( love) but i come from the old days of having to repack wheel bearings and torque lock nuts and what not. a bunch more work.

Some folks believe you have to have the rotors turned every time (i do, IF there is a vibration, i have been know on some of my old crappy vehicles not to) but it really is a good practice.

pick up some Good lifetime warranty pads if your planning on keep truck for LONG time.

as far as time, i would say if you are buying all four rotors new, most folks could do it in less then one hour.

the time comes from taking the rotors to have them turned, but in my case, i take them to the store and turn them myself, Wink i'm lucky that way. Big Grin

goodluck1

That's good to know. I was probably gonna buy the Powerslots and Hawks next year for mine. Wasn't too worried anyways, but I never did them on my 03.

I just did mine like a week ago, It is easy, I replaced all the pads and got some new front rotors, took about an hour and ten for me, but I was explaing to my woman how to do it. All you need is the parts, a lift helps so you can take off all four tires, and either a caliper tool or a C clamp or something else to compress the caliper. all that plus whatever size the sockets you need are, should only be two different ones. Its a whole lot easier than doing the brakes that were on the chevelle I had.

You will need a 21 mm socket, and a large C Clamp, and some bailing wire or something to hold the calipers up while you swap out the rotors, but it isn't hard. Make sure you lube the silver slides the pads sit inside of.....and the slides the calipers ride on. White lithium will work just fine, just make darn sure you don't get it on the rotors or pads..... superscared
