Anyone hear of this being done or has done it?

Just curious, playing with the idea...

Yeah... T-56. Same tranny in the Viper, and same tranny Keisler uses in the 6-speed manual tranny swap for the HEMI Chargers, but still, nobody will do it.

Hemi Shop said they would, and get me a price within the week, but that was months ago. Still waitin' on an answer, and can't seem to get a hold of them.

I'd love to do that mod, but it's pretty indepth. I think I could handle the fab work, it's the money that's the problem.

Fab work isn't the problem. Keisler said they'd do that for me. If I remember right, they even said the bellhousing they have would work... the issue was getting the tranny to talk to the motor so the motor doesn't go into limp mode thinking the tranny blew, aka no tranny behind it. And for those who don't know, that means the motor won't go over 2000rpm.

If it was that easy, you'd think someone would've done that already. So I dunno. How do you know that'd work?

MOPAR has to have something that'd work, cause what do they do with their crate engines? Not every crate engine application will include a tranny... so how do they make those run??

Where'd you see it? I can't find anything anywhere, nor any shops that have even HEARD of it done, let alone give it the time of day. Do you know if it works just on the 5.7, or can it be used on the 6.1 and modified motors?

I would think it would be able to handle anything you can throw at it within reason. I can't remember where I read it at. But I think it was on DTW a while back. Two people had done it, one was in Cali, and the other was in like north dakota or montana or something. I'll see if I can find it again.

Nobody wants to do it, and I mean nobody. I've looked, and searched... if it was another truck, I'm sure someone would do it, but I guess the demand just isn't there, and they don't want to waste their time on just one truck.

proudhemi: if that's all you really have to do, I'm very surprised it's not well known enough. You'd think there'd be so many people out there wanting it, but I guess not. I was thinking even with my '03 having the seperate units for the tranny and motor that'd it'd be easier, but they still don't seem to care.

I think what it comes down to is that for the money there are better options to make the truck faster. Doing the swap right, would probaly cost north of 5-6 grand. You can get our transmissions rebuilt with all of the strongest parts for between 2-3 grand and that's for the absolute top of the line rebuild. I'm still looking for you though, DTW search function is horrible, but I'm sure I can still find the info.
