Hi guys,
I have a 2003 ram 2500 with a HEMI.
My shifter is stuck in park.
I just found out that it won't unlock when I step on the brake pedal. My brake lights do work.
After changing the brake light switch by the pedal is't still not working.

I did noticed that when I hit the trailer brake by hand it does uncage.

Anybody here can shine a light on this problem.

Thanks in advance

Henkster

incorrect wiring? the trailer brake controller should not ever be feeding power back into the truck electrical sensors (brake switch) or solenoids (park lock). If you have a multimeter, you can see if the park lock is even getting power when brakes are applied. If it IS, then it's the park lock it self.. if NO then it is either a switch/input device, or relay module.

Right now I have continous power going to the park lock I noticed, but when I hit the brakepedal it doesn't change.
I haven't checked it with the trailerbrake if I pushed it.

I did pull the trailer brake out and it didn't change at all.

Thanks

Henkster

Ok guys,
I got it fixed.
After changing the brake light switch it still didn't work.
So I went to the schematics well after 2 hours of figuring this out I was like lost!!!!!!!!

What I did was my first choice and that was looking for the blown fuse.
well the fuse cab doesn't call it brake light switch or any like that.
So i grabbed my multi meter and checked every fuse and there is it was.

Number 24 and what is it called ????chmsl well that beats me.

anyway it's fixed and wasn't so expensive after all.

I hope this will help in the future with other that have this problem

Henkster

Johnny,
thanks for the answer.
I might have a problem in that direction.
otherwise the fuse wouldn't blow.

Anyway so far so good.

Thanks

Henster

you probably have a bulb out in your third brake light, they go out often as well as the brake light bulbs. Sometimes when the bulb element burns it rolls around inside the bulb and short circuits and pops fuses.
